Outstanding Environmental Youth Education and
Outreach Program Award Received
Robert Medigovich, Municipal Coordinator of Community Waste Disposal, and Pippa Couvillion with the city of Frisco presented Frisco ISD with this State Award. The City of Frisco, Frisco ISD and CWD joined together to implement programs that educated over 3,500 elementary students on the City of Frisco's recycling program and also participated in community events that increased recycling tonnage by 19%. A school recycling program was also strengthened with the help of Frisco ISD leaders that diverted over 90 tons of fiber. Dianne Miller, the FISD recycling coordinator received the award on behalf of the district. Two campus Green Team coordinators were also on hand. The judges in this award program
were Ed Panero, Office of the Federal Environmental Executive, Washington. D.C.; Joanne Shafer, President, National Recycling Coalition, Philadelphia, PA; Lori Scozzafava, Solid Waste Association of North America, Washington, D.C.
