Galyan's
Gary Burns Frisco Fun Run. Saturday, October 25th at 8 AM. Starts in front
of Galyan's - activities begin at 7:19 a.m. Presenting Sponsors: WFAA
Channel 8, The Dallas Morning News and The TruGreen Companies. The Frisco
Fun Run is a 5K run/walk and 1 mile walk. Proceeds from the Frisco Fun
Run go to the Frisco Education Foundation to build scholarship opportunities
for our Frisco ISD students, including the Gary Burns Memorial Scholarship
Fund. Look to the website for more information - it is not too late to
register or to become a volunteer!

October 27, is a Parent Conference Day - no school for students!
Another
upcoming event! The Chili Challenge!
Each year community
teams face-off before the last home football game of the year in the Chili
Challenge. This year's Challenge will be held at Staley Middle School
on Friday, November 7th from 5:30 PM to 7 PM. Bring your best recipe or
come sample the chili. To enter, call 469-633-6000. What do you need to
be a chef?
- At least 10 pounds
of quality chili
- A sign advertising your specialty
- A crockpot or warmer to keep your chili warm (a serving spoon and
an extension cord could help!)
What do you need
to just eat really good chili?
- $3.00/bowl
- $5.00 all you can eat*
- $1.00 hot dogs
* The all you can eat option will give you the right to vote by ticket
for your favorite chili.
Come out and see your
favorite school staff members competing for this honor of best chili!
This
week was National School Bus Safety Week! Thank a bus
driver and remember to watch for those flashing lights and the stop arm.
Illegally passing can result in a fine up to $1,000. The only time you
do not have to stop is if you are on the opposite (oncoming) side of a
divided highway.

Information - It is the time of year that the FISD Administration
and Board begin to look at potential zones for new schools scheduled to
open in the upcoming school year -

Provide Board with initial look at 2004-2005 attendance zones for Griffin
Middle School and Isbell Elementary and gain input from staff, parents,
community
- December 2003 -
Public hearing on attendance zones
- January 2004 -
School Board decision on 2004-2005 attendance zones

- Effective utilization of space - effective space utilization for effective
instructional programs
- Stability of students - minimize the number of students changing schools
- Neighborhood schools - proximity of students to assigned campus
- Maintaining diversity - heterogeneous campus enrollments, when practical
- Promoting unity - community, promote unity throughout the district
